To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, JACOB JACOBS, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York, and in the State of New York, have invented a certain New and useful Design for a Lens for Vault-Lights, &c.; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a lens or glass made in accordance with my design, and Fig. 2, a plan view of the same. Letters of like name and kind refer to like parts in each of the figures. The object of my invention has been to provide a new, useful, and original design, for use in the lenses or glasses of vault lights and illuminating tiles, and to this end my invention consists in the design as hereinafter specified and shown in the drawings. The special purpose, which I have had in view, has been to so shape that part of the lens or glass which is exposed at or beyond the surface of the cement or other holding material, used to fasten the lens or glass in the completed light or tile, that the outline of its edge will present a pleasing and attractive appearance. |
In the drawings A designates the body, and A'
the part, which is shaped in accordance with my design. As shown,
the side of such part has, around its edge, a series of hollows or
concavities a, a, with curved bottoms, which make the
outline of such edge consist of a series of entrant curves with their
outer ends close together. The appearance of such a lens, when it is
embedded in the cement or other holding material of the tile or vault
light frame, so as to expose only the part A', or the outer side and
edge of the same, is not only pleasing and attractive in itself, but
renders the finished tile or light, in which such lenses are used,
very ornamental and attractive. Having thus described my invention, what I claim is-- The design for a lens or glass for vault lights and illuminating tiles, substantially as herein shown and described. In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 20th day of February, A. D. 1893.
