2. In a building, the beam extending parallel
with the building-front having the bottom flange, a sidewalk or
illuminating-tiles, the inner edge of which is supported directly upon
the outer bottom flange of the beam, a filling-piece interposed between
the flange and the sidewalk to form a support for the latter and tapered
to correspond with the grade of said sidewalk, together with the riser
fitting between the sidewalk and the nosing of the area-cover,
substantially as herein described. 3. In a building, the beam lying parallel with the building-front, forming the offset between the cover of the area-way and the sidewalk, a bottom flange projecting outwardly from said beam, upon which the inner edge of |
the sidewalk is supported, with an intermediate filling-piece tapered
to correspond with the grade of the sidewalk, a correspondingly-tapered
riser extending from the sidewalk-surface to the area-cover between the
beam and the nosing of the area-cover, perforations made through the
riser, and corresponding perforations made through the web of the beam,
