In these
Lights the iron frame is kept entirely below the surface of the
glasses, as shown in the above illustrations, and the lenses are set
as close together as is practically possible; the narrow spaces or
joints between them are run in with a specially prepared composition,
which is a non-conductor of electricity, thus forming an entirely
insulated surface. The cast-iron frames are made sufficiently strong
to stand any strain likely to be put on them.
