Timeline: (from La Rochère Historique)

• 1475 · Simon de Thysac, a gentleman glassmaker, acquires the right to found a glass factory in Rochiers (the national archives have a record of this act). The first product made at La Rochère was window glass (in the usual period technique of making a large cylinder then cuting it lengthwise and flattening), most likely for local consumption.
• 1595 · The village is completely destroyed by fire; glassworks rebuilt 3 years later.
• 1636 · La Rochère destroyed again during the Thirty Years' War.
• 1666 · The ovens are re-lit and will not be extinguished until today.
• 1858 · François-Xavier Fouillot takes over the glassworks with two partners.
• 1868 Departure of the partners; the descendants of François-Xavier Fouillot currently manage the glassworks.
• 1870 · Beginning of glass tile production— this diversification explained by the presence of many tile factories in the village. La Rochère already produces glassware for Cafés, Hotels, Restaurants.
• 1895 · Products made in La Rochère now includes cut glassware, salt shakers, jam jars, medical equipment, lighting, tiles, slabs, etc.
• 1923 · The glassworks of La Rochère and Clairefontaine becomes the Société Anonyme Établissement Boileau-Mercier.
• 1960 · Glassworks becomes Cristallerie de La Rochère.
• 1967 · Production is automated: hand presses are replaced by automatic presses. A basin oven is installed. Bricks, tiles, and paving stones are now pressed mechanically and automatically. Productivity and working conditions are improved. The first mechanized products in Art de la Table are ice cream cups which quickly become a market staple.
• 1970 · Hand glassware develops with the arrival of decorative lamps and vases (Art Nouveau lamps, vases with shimmering colors, etc). Site opened to the public for viewing the glassmakers at work, and an art gallery added to exhibit regional artists, and glass artists. A Japanese garden can enhance the visit.
• 1999 · A more modern building added to accommodate a second pond furnace and new presses, to meet growing demand for tableware.
• 2004 · Company becomes La Rochère S.A.S. (simplified joint-stock company)
