These photos were provided by Taco Hermans of The Netherlands Department
for Conservation:
Taco reports: "These pictures were taken at The Netherlands
Institute for War Documentation (NIOD), situated at Herengracht 380 in
Amsterdam. The skylight is situated above the main staircase and contains
prims tiles from Luxfer and an unknown type. Maybe it's Vera-Lux, because
they put their name on the side of the tiles. I could not see any name
and did not recognize the pattern."
The following photos show a Vera-Lux vault light plate that was part of
the original "Plan Zuid"
city expansion ca 1917. The plate is now in the collection of Rein
Catsburg, who saved it from an ignoble dumpster death in the late 1970s
during a basement renovation ("It was used in a so-called Souterain that
was not fit for daily living and mostly used as [a] study or small wine
cellar."). Photos are by Rein.
